Today I am going to talk about chocolate. Is it bad for you or is it good for you? What are its negative health effects, and what are its health benefits?
Chocolate has been in the news recently. Some scientists have claimed that it protects against heart disease. As a result, chocolate manufacturers have started advertising chocolate as a health food. But is it really healthy? Let´s look at the evidence.
Firstly then, is it really good for your heart? Well, the answer is no. Processed chocolate contains milk, sugar and other ingredients which can be very bad for you. And very bad for your heart.
Secondly, some people believe that eating chocolate reduces stress. It can calm you down. It may even relieve pain. In other words, chocolate can make you happy. But recent tests show that, although chocolate is quite addictive, and we enjoy eating it, it does not make you feel happier or more relaxed.
And finally, some research argues that chocolate does cause acne or migraines. Well, eating chocolate does not cause acne, but it can make it worse. As for migraines, well, anyone who has migraines will tell you that chocolate can definitely cause them.
To conclude, chocolate is junk food. Its effects on your health are negative not positive. But if you don´t eat too much, it won´t do you too much harm. And it does taste delicious.
